We women come in all shapes and sizes; narrow, wide,
angled, round, short and tall. We know that one clothing style will not work
for everyone, so it follows that we can’t all wear the same the same hairstyle.
It can often be challenging to find cuts that are suited for our particular
face shape.
If your face is full, you may have full cheeks, a double
chin, or just larger bone structure, or you have a large or wide neck. The
correct hairstyle will help to slim and adjust the proportion of your face to
create an eye pleasing symmetry.
You can wear long hair as long as it is at least shoulder
length and the silhouette is slim. That usually means layering in the hair cut.
Any fullness in the style should be at eye level and above. The hair should lie
close to the sides of your face and neck. The layers of this style separate and
give a textured appearance and have a lengthening effect. This style is parted
at the side. This is slimming to most faces. Keeping the bangs off the forehead
with just the ends adding softness also makes the face appear longer.
LongShort
Short hair may be for you. It can be very feminine and is
easy to care for. About an inch of length at the neckline is often attractive
and should be left fringy rather than blunt at the bottom.
Keep the style close at the sides. If you cut it short
around the ears, make sure it is soft and fringy at the edge.
A side part will have the effect of adding length to the
face. The height at the one side adds to that effect.
Now turn around! What does the back of your hair look
like? The lines of the back of your hairstyle make a difference in how others
see you. Hair that is trimmed evenly straight across the back has the effect of
adding width to your neck or to your back. With a hand mirror in hand, turn
your back to the wall mirror and look at what other people see. If your hair is
long, pull it up- all of it or just pieces to see the effect on your overall
appearance. For a slimming effect trim your hair in an oval with the long
lengths in the center or in an inverted V with shorter lengths in the center
and longer on the sides.
