Hair comes in all textures. Many of us with fine hair,
long for hair styles that are bouncy and full of body. Sometimes fine hair,
that is long, can be difficult to handle. It is often difficult to get volume
into your hair style and to keep it in once you get it there. All too often, we
style our hair – just the way we want it - and happily leave the house. Half
way through the day, we may catch a glimpse of ourselves in a mirror and
realize that all of the fullness and most of the curl is gone. Fullness and
curl that stays in requires preparation and the right styling products to keep
it in.
You can get these soft curls and waves and fullness, even
in fine hair.
Always use products that will help to increase body.
These products will be labeled as body-building or for fine hair.
After shampooing and conditioning, put about a golf-ball
sized amount of Styling Foam or mousse in your hand. Use your fingers to
distribute it throughout your hair, focusing on the root area. Work the foam
from the roots out to ends.
Blow your hair dry, creating as much fullness as possible
by turning your head upside down and drying it or using a round brush. After
your hair is completely dry curl the top with a large (about 1 and 1/2 inch in
diameter) curling iron.
To increase the hold:
After curling each strand, while it is still warm, insert
a large Velcro roller. Leave it in until the hair is cool or until all of the
hair is curled.
To curl the ends, hold a medium sized curling iron (about
1 inch in diameter) vertically. Curl medium sized strands of hair and insert
small or medium sized Velcro rollers. Curl each side toward the face and curl
the back in different directions. When finished curling and the hair is
completely cool, remove the Velcro rollers. Separate the curls with your
fingers. Run your fingers through your hair until it is softened and
attractively styled.
Spray the back and ends with a flexible hold aerosol hair
spray. If your climate is humid, use hair spray that is humidity resistant.
